4. HD Screening of Metropolitan Opera (Turandot and Les pêcheurs de perles)
As a hub of art appreciation for students, staff and general public, CityU is now inviting nomination of distinguished artworks by secondary school students for exhibition:
1.F.1 to F.6 full-time students in Hong Kong for year 2016-17.
2.All students’ artworks must be nominated by their schools.
3.Each student can submit only one entry.
1.Theme: No restriction.
2.Format: 2 dimensions on white paper.
3.Size: Within the range from size A4 (210 x 297mm) to A2 (420 x 594mm).
4.Medium: Any format (such as oil, acrylic, sketching, etc.) except digital work. Substandard size / non paper / bend / 3D art works will not be accepted.
5. All entries should not show the name of student or name of school in any form.
6.Please write the student name, artwork title and school name at the back of the artwork.
Submission of Entries
Interested schools can submit their students’ artwork(s) on or before 17 February 2017 (Friday) 5:30 p.m.
Step 1: Fill in and print out the online nomination form
Step 2: Submit the artwork(s), together with the printed nomination form, by hand or by mail to:
Student Development Services, City University of Hong Kong,
6/F, Amenities Building, 83 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon.
*Submission should be made by registered post or submitted in person during office hours (Monday to Friday, 9am-1pm; 2pm-5:30pm). Please mark ‘Secondary School Distinguished Artwork Exhibition 2017’ on the envelope.
Selection will be made according to their originality, creativity, drawing skills and overall quality of artwork (For example, the use of medium, overall design and composition).
40-50 pieces of artworks will be selected by panel of adjudicators to be exhibited at the exhibition foyer outside of CityU Student Development Services from 28 March to 7 April 2017.
Students of selected artworks will be awarded a medal of appreciation.

Terms and Conditions
The Cultural and Sports Committee of the City University of Hong Kong ('Organiser') is the organizer of 'Secondary School Distinguished Artwork Exhibition 2017' ('Exhibition'). All entrants and participating schools should read carefully the following Terms and Conditions prior to submission of entries.
1.Entries without school nomination; fail to provide required information, or fail to follow submission requirement will not be processed.
2.Entries will be divided into 2 groups (Junior: F.1 to F.3 and Senior: F.4 to F.6) for adjudication. Decisions made by the judging panel will be final and will not be open for appeal.
3.All entries, once submitted, cannot be modified. The Organiser has the right to publish, exhibit, print or distribute through any media the entries or have them included in publications.
4.No entries infringing intellectual property rights will be accepted. In cases when there is any legal actions, demands, claims and costs arising from the entries that are infringing intellectual property rights, the entrants concerned shall accept full liability.
5.All entries must be the first time to be nominated for this Exhibition. Any repeated nomination will not be processed.
6.All entries (selected or not) can be collected at CityU after exhibition period.
7.The Organiser accepts no responsibility for any loss or theft of the entries.
8.Personal data collected in the entry forms will be used solely for activities related to the Exhibition.
9.The Organiser reserves the right to interpret and change the rules of the Exhibition without prior notice.

This time the lunchtime concert was brought to us by Violinist Kitty Cheung and Pianist Cherry Tsang.
The classic pieces from BRAHMS, BRIDGE and PONCE-HEIFETZ filled the Blue Zone with the vibe of Spring!

The first lunchtime concert in the series was brought to us by Pianist Cindy Ho and Cellist Joanne Kim. Music by Schumann, Shostakovich and Chopin filled the blue zone with harmony.
We are forming a music group -City Harmonica, led by the world-class harmonica player, Cy Leo.
Free tutorial of harmonica will be provided to members, to prepare for an on-stage performance in the coming CityU Arts Festival 2017.

Trainer’s Biography – CY Leo
Leo is one of the most promising harmonica players and singer-song writers internationally. He has accumulated 17 international championships since 2006. In October 2013, Leo made his debut in the World Harmonica Festival, and excelled among all contestants by seizing the ‘World Championship’ in the Test Piece Chromatic Harmonica Solo category, which is renowned as the highest honour of chromatic harmonica player.
